Friday January 26th
Important Dates and Information:
Swimming starts Monday:
-We leave the school at 9:05 a.m. SHARP. We cannot wait for students as the bus needs to leave right away.
-Please send your child to school with their bathing suit under their clothes as well as a smaller separate swim bag with a towel and underwear in it.
-Send goggles if your child needs them.
-We will not be at the school during our morning snack time as we will be swimming. It is important that your child eat a good breakfast and bring a snack to school that they can eat before 9:00 in the classroom OR after we get back from the pool. The bus leaves to take us back to school at 10:45 so we will not be back until close to lunch.
Our Week:
Grade 1 Roots of Empathy: Ask your child what they learned about baby Mario!
Grade 2 The Wild Robot Project and Coding: If your child finished their robot then they have been sent home. We will finish the rest next week. Coding: The Grade 2's are learning about coding using the Sphero Robots. It is an important part of the Grade 1 and 2 Science (Computer Science) curriculum. The Grade 2's will be teaching the Grade 1's how to use the Sphero Robots. If your child is in Grade 2, ask them what they did this week!
Mrs. Pelton's Class: They have been working on a writing and loose parts project for our class read aloud, The Wild Robot. Ask your child what they have done so far!
Ms. Disher's Class: Ask your child about what we read and drew today for The Wild Robot. Ask your child about their "How to" writing. For example, each student started their drawings and sentences with 4 words: First, Next, Then, Last. This also ties into the Science outcomes for coding where students have to be able to give directions and use directions to create something.
Math: We are working on equality/inequality and addition/subtraction. Ask your Grade 1 child what they did this week with Mrs. Pelton. Ask your Grade 2 child what they did with Ms. Disher (hint: YOU Be The Teacher! What does the equal sign mean?-it's not just about where the answer goes!)
Have a fantastic weekend!
